4r100 not engaging into drive

It's the overdrive one way clutch. The trans needs to come out and be rebuilt to fix this.
When in D and first gear the overdrive one way clutch has to hold or there is no going anywhere. When you put the shifter in 2 the coast clutch is engaged and this will take the place of the overdrive one way.

Is the overdrive one way clutch the same as the overdrive roller clutch? And how bad would it be to continue to drive my truck with it like this?

Yes, they are two names for the same part. Usually, it won't hurt anything to drive it like that. It is possible that parts could come out of the roller clutch and get into something else.
