So in relation to my other thread for the steering issues, now I am looking to fix the locking hub that got pooched. Luckily it was just the plastic retaining ring for the hub guts.
Trouble is, all I can find so far is the hub is sold by Ford as a complete assembly for $500 freaking dollars. Ummmm . . . no thanks, especially when all I need is a $.50 plastic part.
Does anybody know of anywhere that sells replacement parts for the hubs? See the pic attached. The hub on the left is the good part, you can see the white plastic ring is in tact. The broken plastic ring on the right is the part I need to replace.
Well, looks like according to an online source, the locking hub is $211. For some reason the p/n that I thought it was, listed for around $30, but their picture said that was a vacuum line, that isnt there on the MANUAL locking hubs. You may try calling one of the site sponsers to get this sorted out, or find someone who has installed a set of warns (maybe search the forum) and ask them if they have their old hubs, and would be willing to part with them. Me, I still have oem hubs, or Id put them in the mail to you.
No, parts aren't available to the consumer for the hubs. Meaning they have to make the parts of course, but they won't sell them. Just get a used set on ebay. Hate to say it but I threw out my broken hubs. Hey, I can only keep so much junk around (my basement is wall to wall with parts right now).
The part you are looking for is part of the auto hub, not the axle spindle correct? I have old auto hubs that i pulled out because I thought they were bad and replaced them with Warn manuals. Do you have paypal? I'll send you my entire autolock; just pay shipping...
Just noticed you are out of Calgary... that is a beautiful area... how far are you from Lake Louis (spelling?)... Went to visit Banff and Calgary years ago
Hey Camodown, thanks for the offer. Yes, I do have PayPal. Just to be clear, my truck is a 99 and does not have the auto locking hubs, only manual locking. What is the truck that your lockouts are off of? Calgary is awesome! Living so close to the mountains is very nice. Calgary is about 1.5 hrs from LL.
Stroken_it7.3, thanks for the p/n. If I can't find some OEM replacements hubs then I will likley go that route, probably wouldn't be bad to upgrade anyway. I'll see what Camodown has for parts.
