1997 Ranger speedometer problems

If your also having other problems with say, the cruise control not setting, or randomly dropping out, or the ABS acting up, or it's trouble light coming on, or the auto tranny shifting acting out, maybe the rear ABS speed sensors output is corrupt, or maybe it's wiring, or electrical connector is damaged or loose, or corroded, so put it on your suspect list, as all those other things as well as the speed-o use it's output.
It's located atop the front rear center of the rear differential.
Inexpensive & easy to replace, maybe a 15 min job.
Some trouble shooting thoughts for pondering.

I believe a 97 base model should have RABS.
Still suspect the speed sensor, it's wiring, or electrical connector.
Could be a dash cluster circuit board problem I suppose, but the speed sensor is usually the culprit with speed-o problems.
