would one dead batt cause the low fuel codes to come up and the truck not to start? it has half a tank. the low fuel light has been comeing on lately when the truck is parked faceing down? hope i dont have to go to the dealer!
I don't think so but when replacing the battery always replace both at the same time. If not the older battery will take down the new to it's level fo condition. In doing so the older battery will wear even faster.
Go with Interstate MTP-65s, they fit the stock battery covers (some batteries don't have the correct vent cap size) and are very good batteries. I got mine for $89 each. Usually if you have a low voltage problem your ABS light will be on too.
Swap the batteries around...I forget which one has the control for starting.....Or just disconnect the ground of the bad one and try starting. DO replace in pairs!
Since our trucks have two batteries that act as one big battery, you basically have only a half of a battery. If you cranking voltage drops below 10.5 volts or so, the PCM will reset and could cause differant codes. The low fuel light will not cause one not to start. Give some more info on your truck like year model, miles, mods and so on. Will it start at all? Remember not to crank more than 20 seconds or less each time, more will overheat the starter and cause failure.
