MPG with Excursion

went from maryland-2-florida--7.3 stocker 3:73 rear 75k miles 19.1 on paper--and lie-o-meter!!!
----oh yeah did the speed limit--max was 70 here-n-there wif cruise on--no tow just family-luggage-n-fishin equipment!!

If you have the lighter engine, only 2wd running gear, and 3.73's the 5.4 is EXCELLENT. It'll tow 6000lbs or so with no complaints, and then pulls 19mpg when your just driving around. Fantastic combination. Not a hot rod, but no shortage of power, and damn good economy for a rig that'll still pull your race car or camper. Try that w/ a mini-van. Lowest maintenance costs of any excursion model too! Mine is a MINT 2000 model and man i love this truck. My garage door is shorter than a standard door, and the truck STILL fits in there.

Oh I know, I tried not to laugh when he told me. I am still going to look at it, I know low 20's is more realistic.

Just ran Pa to Myrtle Beach SC with 04 4x4 6.0 stock. Stayed pretty close to 10 over speed limit and with cruise got in the high teens or low 20's. Vehicke was packed with gear and people. But that doesn't seem to change MPG.

2002 4 x 4 7.3L diesel, nearly 109K miles now and had about 107k when I bought it, 3.73, +60-70 Diablo sport chip... bone stock otherwise... averaging 17 MPG over the 2000 miles I have owned it in mixed driving. I can get the lie-o-meter to read over 30mpg, however, take it's reading x 2/3 and its what you are actually getting. If I could run out a tank on the interstate about 62 MPH @ 1750 rpm nonstop I bet I'd get a shade over 20. 35 MPG might be possible,,, downhill in the rockies in neutral with the engine off.
