hei confusion?

hey guys, this one is probably getting old but i have to ask anyways. i'm building a mild 460 for my race truck and i've decided to go with an hei distributor (cheapy). now, what is the easiest way to make it work with my ford ignition box. is it even possible or do i have to upgrade that as well. the box was made by msd but designed for a ford because the wires coming out use factory ford clips. also where does the coil pack come in? any help would be greatly appreciated. i might be able to get some pics if it helps but computertry isn't my forte. thanks.

The big deal with using a Ford/HEI distributor is the simple one wire hook-up. So you do not need any other boxes. Is this what you are talking about?

The one wire goes to the ignition switch for 12 volts when the key is in start and run. Don't use the original Ford coil + wire since it has a resistance built into it.
