I have a 95 Ranger 2WD with a 2.3 engine that is just about done. The gas milage is great, but power is another issue. I tow boats from time to time and it really struggles. Any recommendations on an engine swap that would give me the most benifit without considerable cuttting and splicing. I currently have a 5 speed and would like to consider putting an automatic in, my wife's pretty hard on clutchs. Appreciate any help/advice you have to offer
I suggest you change the gearing in the truck to 3.73 or 4.10, and then find another or rebuild your 2.3 with a better cam, this motor is capable of a LOT more HP than what Ford gives you from the factory.
