dome light stays on

dome light stays on
2000 explorer... the dome light stays on, but no door ajar light.. Have sprayed the door switches anyway but no change. Any Ideas as to why the dome light is staying on???

Is your dash illumination dimmer switch all the way up? I don't mean to be a smart a**, but it seems like a good place to start.
In my 1997 when you turn the dash dimmer switch all the way up it will click into position and then the interior lights are always on.
Just a thought...

Yours might be different, but the wiring diagrams for a 97 show that the "central timerCTM/generic electronic moule/GEM". (Nothing is simple anymore) grounds 2 relays to turn on the dome light AND turn on the door ajar light when the door is opened.
Or the light comes on-as K2JJB mentioned- with the dash dimmer switch.
Since the door ajar light isnt on, it sure sounds like the dimmer switch is turned on.
