I'm looking into buying a new dome light for my 1999 Ranger, because the one i have doesnt have a switch. I have the problem where when it rains, the dome light stays on even when the doors are shut. I've seen many posts about this but was more intrested in buying a new dome light with a switch. So, just thought i would share, if anyone has any comments, feel free. Thank you.

The switches are located INSIDE the doors, not on the door posts. They are prone to failure and/or sticking--and when this happens the dome light will not go out even if the door(s) are shut tight. Inside door panel must be removed to investigate the problem--about 3/4 labor hour per door. One of my door switches failed on my 1998 Ranger during warranty period.

Not entirely true!!!
The switches are mounted on the latch mechanism in the doors.
Just spray the latch mechanism very liberally with WD-40, then
open / close the door a few times, and this will usually solve the
sticky switch problem.
