Something to do with creatively bypassing the filter. Far as I know, you can type what you want, and the filter will pick it up, and you'll be okay. But bypass it the way you did, you get in a wee bit of trouble.
There are studies backing up that they are more likely to be suffering from depression. People need to separate their own personal feelings and/or circumstances from the broad, overall trend data and look at it for what it is: statistical data.
Stats can be skewed very easily in whatever direction you want to skew them in. I personally know several people who have tattoo's or are planing to get them and none of them have low-self estem. None of them are getting or got their tat's because its a fad, they are getting them because of some interpersonal reason which others have no right to judge. I believe the quote goes something like "Judge not lest ye be judged".
I didn't "skew" stats and I never said people with tattoos have low self esteem. If you're going to reply to my posts please reply to what I actually said. Additionally, as I've previously (and repeatedly) stated, one can't use the experience of a few individuals to negate widespread statistical data.
I don't judge individuals on their tattoo choices in their personal life and that's different from making sound business decisions concerning them - employers have every right decide who works for them.
I'm done with this thread. Thanks folks for the responses -- some of them were, imho, well stated. Others only helped strengthen the impressions I got from the conclusions drawn from the statistical data and surveys.
(PS - Anyone tossing out Biblical quotes ought to look up what the Bible says about tattoos and judging others.)
To me a tatoo is your personal business. But when you put them all over your arms and legs for the public to see, you make your business my business. I'm not really interested in a stranger's personal business. Which is why a lot of people feel uncomfortable around tattoo people. It's like catching somebody getting dressed and you want to look away.
I disagree too, It is their body they can do what they want, and if it really is a sight you do not want to see then look away. The same can be said about anything else in life. Just choose not to look.
IMO who the **** cares wat people do to their body..i can understand if it is some1 who u care for,but i always ask myself how many times am i ever gonna see this person again?
I just wanted to tell ken thanks for his opinion. In alot of aspects I agree with what he has said and some things I disagree. One thing I can say is that I understand the things he said. Just wanted to tell Ken thanks.
I know you said your done with this thread Ken, but I'll put this out there anyways. I never meant to single you out with my last post. I was just replying to your statement about the stats and got a little carried away, sorry for that.
I've got no hard feelings with any of the statements made in this thread or any of the people that made them, it was a lively discussion, but I'm with Ken I think it's run this has run it's course and I'm also done with it.
Good. Glad that's over with. Now maybe someone will answer the questions I asked earlier.
For any moderator,
"For the benefit of myself any maybe others. What does a 2 point infraction mean? I see where it lasts for almost a year (well mine anyway) but, I cannot find an explanation of this point system anywhere. I surmise that it is cumulative and some infractions weighted more value than others. But, I cannot find how many points it takes to have privileges suspended or removed. Is there a published criteria or is it a subjective thing? A link, if available, would be helpful.....thanks."
could you imagine getting a chinese lettering because it looked cool...and it turns out to stand for dumbchit
As far as the chinese tattoo's I have one on my forearm that when translated is my name. I spent considerable time making sure it was correct. Other than that I do have a crab which is my horoscope sign and Deigo from Ice Age the Movie.
Wow, interesting post. I don't mean to drag it on any longer, but tattoo's don't bother me much. I don't judge someone because they have one. My ex got one day. Conversation went like this. "Rich, what do you think about tattoo's?" Before I could say much, she showed me what she got. Nothing crazy, just a couple roses shaped in a heart on her leg.
I like the art in some of them, but the people who get them because it's the faddish thing to do, well, it's just plain faddish. I like the stories they sometimes tell. I've been holding off on mine until I could figure out a design. Now I have it pretty close to what I want, and will soon find a good artist to draw it up and see what it looks like. It'll be very personal and will be an reminder of some folks I have served with over the years. Folks at church will probably balk when they see it because it will be obvious, but not crazy, but that's okay I can deal with that. Anywho, nigh on to bed time so I best git...
I look at it like this - a Tat is something intentionally added to the skin by choice. So far as we know, properly done there are no health issues. Badly done it is like sharing needles - so the repute of a tat parlor is a thing to consider.
I myself have no tats. I have wondered a few times if my last will and testament could be tattooed to my BACKSIDE...
But with my luck it would be burned.
On the other hand, I have a lot of scars. Things in real life that left marks on me.
Burns, cuts, abrasions, you name it. And all of them have a story behind them.
NONE of them were really my choice, they happened BECAUSE of my choices, but there they are.
I think I prefer scars to tattoos in the final analysis because a scar tells it's story. A tat can be had by anyone with money. You don't collect them the hard way.
Experience can't be written on someone with india ink. So really - they just don't matter at all.
I will say this - a fine redhead with no tats or piercings is far more attractive to me personally...
For one thing - it indicates she does not spend money on things she does not need.
