Hey guys, did I dream it or did someone on here show how to use a GM module from later model GM TBI on a Ford distributor? The reason I ask is I have an idea to use GM TBI on my 351 W. I have the complete wiring harness from a '91 GM van with all the goodies (complete engine and all)
Currently I have a 305 Chevy engine in my truck. I love my 350 turbo trans, and found a place that makes an adaptor to use my 350 trans and bolt it to my 351 W engine. If I could use this TBI setup with all that, I'd be happy with it!
P.S. I lost the link to the place someone sent me about putting the Ford engine to the GM trans too? Anyone???????????
This is a site I have bookmarked shows a basic "how to add" the GM module to a duraspark dizzy........ is that what you are looking for?
Can't help with the adaptor........maybe Advance Adaptors???
Or how about this set up. It is a 351w pushing out about 450-500hp with a Chevy TBI EFI set up and an HEI dist by Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) that was modified with the TBI module by Turbo City if I remember right. I will be pulling this motor out of the tube chassis buggy and putting it in my son's F1.
Hey Sparky, that's almost what I was talkin about. It's really close. the moule I was talkin about is for an '88 up TBI GM dist. It has the small cap with the external coil. But the idea is the same, as it uses the pickup to pulse the injectors. The pictures are really close to what I'm talkin about. I may have to go with a DUI dist, but I was hoping to use the Ford dist, and hide the GM module and run the wires to it?? Does this help clear up what I was meaning?
I was in a hurry this mornig when I typed it up and may have not been really clear on it?
Thanks for the diagrams and I may use it anyway, but I need the module with the ESC too.
There are lots of conversions out there for using the GM ignition modules to control other makes ignitions. The old 4 pin and 7 pin GM modules are the most popular. Do a google search for "Gm ignition module conversion" and you'll get tons of reading to keep you busy
