Hi all. Desparately need some help. I also posted this in the general forum for 86-95ish trucks. Here is the problem:
My heater / blower motor is stuck in the low position. I have replaced the switch, the ballist resistor and the blower motor. It is still stuck on low. Up until a few weeks ago it was stuck on high, which was fine with me. I checked the resistance with a multi-meter and the resistance is a number, NOT open or infinity! When I use the voltmeter function, that also is a number, not zero or infinity. I am getting heat but since it is stuck on low it takes forever to get the entire truck warm. Am I missing something? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
What happens when you put it on *Defrost* when the engine is still cold/cool ?
The reason I ask is some A/C related vehicles have sensors that *Turn Down* or Turn Up the speed of the heater motor AUTOMATICALLY.

I haven't had a chance to bypass the resistor yet. Too cold to work on it. As far as the defroster is concerned when the truck is cold nothing special happens. No change in speeds. Same as when warm. Hopefully I will get to it soon. I really appreciate your feedback.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Jan-02 AT 10:14 PM (EST)]Well finally got around to looking at the blower motor issue again. Decided to bypass the ballast resistor and go with high setting on blower motor. It's not the best setup but it will get me through the winter. Had the ballist resistor checked by the local Ford parts man. All is good. The "book" says it is probably a bad wire (The solid Black wire). I will continue the saga in the spring. At least I have the high setting working now. I appreciate your help.
