Because one of the pictures is of the keypad and you can easily tell that it is the thinner hard wired unit and not the thick stick on unit (picture is about 3/4 of the way down the page).

Also, another giveaway is usually the placement of the keypad itself. The hard wired ones are always installed right in front of the driver's door handle. Almost every stick on unit I have seen is installed above the drivers handle between the handle and the window. The stick on unit sticks out too far and doesn't look right if you install it where the factory hard wired one goes.

It should be noted that if programing another number you will lose the number if the battery is disconnected, the PCM will revert to the factory programed number.

It doesn't actually revert to the factory code, it just clears the user programmed code. If you program a code of your own, you will have 2 codes that open the doors: the original factory code plus your user code. Both will work until you clear the code.

Geeze bud, I'm just trying to understand Ford's premise for dropping the keyless entry keypad, by offering my own experiences and input.

Unlike many salespeople, I took my job seriously and tried to be as informed as possible. That is why this is interesting, because I had the same concern for this issue in 04, and it is debated now. Your quoted proof from the order guide and/or source book was a reference I doubted the validity of in 04, so I am doing the same now as well as offering my insight as to why.

The Fact is that the trucks were equipped with a wired keypad in 04, lots of them. I wasn't arguing that they didn't start out wireless at least on the trucks. We are discussing Ford here, and decisions they make as a company. You're post didn't specify just the trucks, so I didn't narrow my anaylisis of their explanation you quoted regarding them starting out wireless to just the trucks. I was confused, since the keypads have been in use for over 2 decades why they are deciding it is a bad idea now??

Yeah the thickness is a dead giveaway. The hardwired one is less than a 1/4" thick, and the stick on one is almost 1/2" thick.

key pad lock code

I have a 2005 F150 with a regular cab. So I don't know if this applies to the Super Duties or not. But the code was found on the 'body' computer module (as opposed to the engine computer module). This computer, black box from Siemans, was found on the driver's side of the truck behind the plastic cover of the 'B' pillar. In this truck the 'B' pillar is the area of the truck just behind the hinge of the little door, basically the back post of the cab. I had to take the plastic that covers the lower back of the cab loose, then a little of the foot step area, the plastic that covers the seat belt stuff. Viola, the little computer was there. The numbers were upside down but the sticker was 3/4 inch tall and pretty obvious.

Hope this helps.

keyless entry code location

If you go back to the first page of this thread, I described the F-150 work a little better since it was fresh in my mind at that time. But since mine is a F-150, the location in yours might not match. If you convince a dealer to atleast look up the location of the Body computer for your truck (or maybe a junk yard would know) then you can remove whatever is necessary to find the part. My contact had to look it up, since it seems to move around so much. And there's not promise that Ford didn't move it to another location mid year and not change the manuals.?

Good luck, post where you find it.

FWIW, here's a pic of the keypad on my '04 F250. The truck has a build date in late April '04. The build sheet simply states "with keyless entry". I assume from descriptions given earlier that it's the wired type.

Yes that is the hardwired keypad. Your code should be printed on a sticker somewhere behind the dash. Most of them I believe are up behind the raido in the Super Duty trucks. Otherwise you may be able to get your dealer to hookup and read it off the computer.
