I have a 2005 FX4 Regular cab, I found the code (with some help from my neighbor). It is behind the plastic trim that is in the rear corner on the driver's side of the cab. Down near the floor. Remove the door seal and pull the plastic trim away from the truck sheet metal. You might have to take off some more nearby trim to see better. With a flash light I could see the 5 digits, they were even right side up when looking from the outside. The numbers were on the right side (towards the tail gate) about in the middle of the computer. The computer has the word Siemans on it. The computer is the "Body Control computer" or words similar. The neighbor said that the location of this computer is similar for other truck of this year. In the 'B' pillar for Quad Cabs, something like that.
For those with regular cabs, if this helps. Find the plastic trim that covers the spare tire jack and lug wrench (on the passenger side) in that same place except on the Driver's side is where the computer is.
Saved $45 to $100. The dealer told me the computer was behind the radio, I looked (removing the bezel and the radio) nothing but air....Which I think was he was full of.... If a 20 year old kid can find it why couldn't Ford!
Hope this helps others out there. Sorry no pics was done and put back together before I thought about the camera.
I posted this answer under my orignal thread but saw this one so I answered here as well.
Yes the original code will always work unless you swap out the PCM or GEM (can't remember which one holds the code in it's memory). Most people recommend not using the original code, just program your own code in and switch it up every so often just like you would a computer password.
When the Key pad first showed up on the superduty it was stick on and wireless to the module in dash . In 2005 It went to a Hard wired design with mounting holes in the door and Wires to the module.
Well, that info is incorrect because my 04 had a non-stick on made into the door type. The stick on type was available at the time as an accessory ad on. As well, going back many years Ford vehicles that have had the keypad have been wired. Most of the vehicles I've seen with them are Mercury cougars, grand marquis, Mark series cars (including the 89 VII I was going to restore), town cars. These were the ones I remember from the 80's. As i recall, in the 90's they were available on more Ford branded vehicles, then the trucks.

Because they keep moving it. Some years it was under the dash, by the brake pedal, behind the radio, behind a kick panel. It's hard to keep all the locations handy in your head.

Sorry you are Mistaken, Do a little research
2004 order guide shows "wireless door keypad"
2005 order guide shows "new wired door keypad"
Go tohttp://www.sunrisefordfleet.com/download_center.htm and check for youself.
Want more proff : go to a parts book , Doors change and key pad changes in 2005
I dont just say thing's to say them. Or make thing's up
Waiting for your proof to back your claims up
For what its worth my 04 sport package came with the bulkier glued on key pad. Looked identical to the generic one we bought from the parts counter to add on to the wifes car. I traded the 04 for a 05 and it had the smaller key pad built in to the door (same one they have used ever since - at least from a looks standpoint).
Aldridgec may have had a late build that already had the provision for the wired key pad. Happens all the time - my 08 has a TBC function built in to the programming/message board for a new TBC that wont even be offered until the 09 model year. There is a lawsuit against Ford because a customer bought a 04 truck but the build date on the engine is a 03.
Please don't insult me with "do a little research". I sold trucks at the dealer in 04 and 05, I owned the truck and have worked on vehicles for a long time. My research was direct and not from a book that may or may not be correct, which is what I am questioning since my direct experience has told otherwise.
That said, I remember that the order guide mentioned a wireless keypad, as well as a new for 05 wired keypad when they came out. I figured something about it had been revised. I had a job 2 truck personally, that was a late model. It hit the lot in May of 04. I also remember all the trucks on the lot that had a keypad had a wired one. At one point I had an interest in a job 1 truck, and it too had the wired keypad. I had asked about the wireless option at some point, but as most consumers experience, no one had a real answer. From what I could wager, the wireless keypad was added at the factory as an option.
Looking up in an online catalog, the door shell is listed as fitting 03-07 with keyless entry
Here are some sample pictures I found on ebay demonstrating that they have used "wired" keypads in different models since the 80's, and that the 04 model trucks indeed had wired keypads that were the same as the 05 models. I didn't see any 03s with a keypad at all on ebay, so I think that the Ford documents were not properly updated to reflect the change for 04.
"I sold trucks at the dealer in 04 and 05"
That explains it !
I was talking Superduty stuff Only!, I have no idea or intrest about what year cars stuff changes that's why I visit a superduty fourm and not a Mark VIII fourm.

So my whole statement is not valid because you say Ford made a few wired keypad's at the end of 2004 model ?
The point was! It stated out wireless and went wired and you said It did not. "Wrong"
Remember you called me out , not the other way round
What's up Bushman? I'll be back in Peoria in 2 wks, you'll have to check out the new ride.
Not much, I can't say I'm sure who you are though. I'm going to guess Brad? Look forward to seeing the new ride (2008 F250 according to your profile).

In 05 the keypad became standard equipment on the Lariat trucks (and Harley/King Ranch), and part of the vehicle security group option along with keyless entry on the lower model trucks.
Before 05 it was a seperate option from keyless entry but it was available as a hard wired unit.
The stick on unit has worked on the Super Duty since 99, and the F150 since 98 I believe (My stick on unit won't work with my dad's 97 F150, which is why I am going to sell it).
