was a cool day here too yesterday. Got a little more done on my house, tried out a couple trucks, trying to make a decision. I had backed down to keeping my '08 after my lease end, but after hauling my 6x12 cargo trailer to s'toon and back last weekend, I'm definitely not going to attempt to haul a 20'+ trailer across Canada with out belongings in it!!
I tried out a 2006 F350/6.0. It was a nice Lariat with a brand new motor, 0kms on it, 160k on the rest of the truck. Nice truck, powertrane felt solid and should have been a decent reliable unit with the new motor, but the rest of the truck had some issues that I didn't feel comfortable with.
I went back to dealing on an ecoboost. Work has been slower this year (less than 1/2 of last year!!), so I'm really concerned about the expense while still needing something reliable and hoping to get something 1/2 assed efficient. I even went through the pain of looking at the Toyota Tacoma, but they're pretty useless in their 1/4 ton size and no more efficient than a 1/2 ton truck. Not to mention the prices are insane with very little to no incentives on them!!
The ecoboost brags great fuel economy, and an 11300 towing capacity when equipped with the max trailer tow package. I drove one, and if you haven't, its worth your time. Its a very impressive motor. All that torque at 2500rpms, and a top end rush similar to my 'busa. I kid you not!!
Anyway, I can be into one of those in cc/4x4 for about 525/month over 84 months. Not much more than my lease payments are now, and a brand new truck with full warranty. I'm thinking I may go this route, but still a little unsure. They have worked it out that they can take my '08 as a trade in and I won't have to pay for my wear and tear, or worry about my excess kms.
I'd really like to find something cheap and reliable at the same time, but all to often cheap ends up with repairs. It doesn't take too much shop time nowadays to equal a years worth of payments!!

That 84 month term is ludicrous - you are fooling yourself into buying something you cant afford if you have to term it out that far!
I know some guys who have done that - they are stuck with putting parts into them, and cant trade them cuz they owe more than they are worth. They are trying to live with manageable payments, but have to add what they currently owe to the loan on a new one.
Not preaching here - just my opinion...
I actually had a pretty great monday! Got a debt settled that was owing to me, work was busy and fast as hell, and I got a hell of a nice ride in, both in the morning and after work!
