grease for driveshaft splines

is any one bettter than an other lithium versus regular wheel bearing grease for greasing splines

I wonder how well marine bearing grease would work? At $20+ for the little bit I need, I'd prefer to use some of the tons of grease I DO have laying around.....

I just used lithium based wheel bearing grease on em. Some may be better than others, but I think the real issue is a genuine lack of grease originally.
