Does anybody know what transfer case a 2011 F150 with SOTF 4x4 but no AWD has? I am seeking out the best lubricate for my slip yoke due to slip-bump problems and I am trying to determine if the slip yoke may be exposed to the fluid or if its sealed... or if there is any grease retainer... or if the splines are intended to be lubed by the t-case fluid.
Looking around the net it seems the GM's are well known for this issue and in fact GM has a specialty grease for this application- specifically for the trans/driveshaft slip yoke. In that same TSB they also note that 4x4s should only use ATF on the splines due to their t-case design. Wondering about my Ford now since I've tried a couple different teflon greases with mild to poor success.
That grease worked worse than the blue XG-8. I can about 5000 miles out of xg-8 but after less than 500 (five hundred) that white stuff was worn out.
I'm going to clean off the splines with some spray cleaner (which type won't eat my seals?), and lube with some molyb compound I have. And r&r the t-case fluid since it'll be loaded with solvent at that point.
