I have a 93 F-150 XLT with the factory front speakers. I replaced the factory stereo with an Alpine Cd player last summer. I would like to know what a good replacement would be and and how hard they are to replace. I replaced my rears and they were a cinch.
I put pioneer 6 1/2in speakers they are inexpensive and have good sound. They are easy to replace Just take off the door panel and 3 screws and a plug.
pioneers suck! I say this from personal experience with blowing them. They don't even sound good before they blow! For the price of a pioneer set you can get an Eclipse set. Either of these are made for head-power, but the Eclipse is superior to any pioneer in EVERY catergory there is. As for getting them in, I don't know your car, but it is never difficult, just look at it closely and you'll figure it out.
My problem is that I dont think there are many available speakers for a 93 ford truck. I think that Pioneer makes the only ones. There have to be better than factory...

There really aren't many standard speaker sizes. 3 1/2" 4", 5 1/4", 6 1/2", 6x8", 6x9". Of these, I have never seen oval(6x9 type) in the front of any vehicle. You probably have 5 1/4"s I'm guessing.

Pretty any speaker you buy other than Sparcomatic will sound better than stock. Only if you drive a Volvo C-70 are you going to have an awesome stock system(Dynaudio) Pioneer is only a small step up above normal stock though, and Eclipse is a large step up without going up in cost. If you were to get a seperate amp for them, you could get some KEF UniQs, or maybe Boston Pros. Those a swwweeeeet. Then the performance and sound would really blow you away!

I've purchased things from them in the past and am very happy. They include instructions and connectors to plug in components using existing factory wiring. There web page also will show you all available accessories for your particular vehicle.
You mentioned you have replaced your factory radio with an Alpine unit . . How did you get the old unit out? I've tried using the four "tools", which I bought at Pep Boys, that fit in the four holes in the corners of the radio. The instructions say to insert them 'till they click, then "spread and pull unit out". It won't budge.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a trick to this? I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!
I tried for over a year to get oem radio out, trick is to put them (tools) only about a inch or inch and a half in and and pull the tools out from each other and youll hear a snap, and one end will come out of the dash very slowly. keep playing with it and the other end will come out too.
FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A FORD TRUCK WHO BOUGHT THOSE CHEAP DECK REMOVEL TOOLS THEIR A WASTE OF MONEY. I HAVE BUDDY WHO OWNS AM STERO SHOP AND THEY HAVE A TWO TOOLS NOT FOUR TO PULL THE DECK, I PULLED MY DECK AND HAD THE NEW ONE IN, IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES. SO ANYONE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM JUST WONDER DOWN TO THE LOCAL STERO SHOP AND BUDDY UP TO ONE OF THE INSTALLERS AND HAVE HIM PULL YOUR DECK OUT IT TAKES 3 SECONDS.
