Explorer Rear Window Defroster

This '03 Explorer sits out in the sun and at an elevation of 7,000 feet in southern NM the summer heat on the dark glass is fierce. The rear window defroster electrical solder connection to the glass has separated on one side. The local Ford dealer says, "Can't be fixed" (and charged $20 to say so). A replacement back glass is over $800.00 so I'm surely not going that route. Any suggestions.

You should be able to reattach it with a good rear window defroster repair kit. I've used frost fighter (Frost-Fighter | Home) with very good success. Most dealers won't attempt it because they don't want to risk it coming back.
