Is there a defrost option for the solid rear window? My solid rear window does not have defrost. I would like to add the slider but not for defrost but for when I drive with all the windows down with the back slider open it would relieve the air pressure in the cabin.

Yes...My solid rear window has defrost. My 2011 also had a solid rear window with defrost.
Don't think this has been done before. Why do you want to remove your power slider?
Why? Just personal preference. Like the look of single smooth surface, easier to clean without all the nooks and crannies, and eventually it WILL leak. Budget dictated that I wait until the '15s hit the lot to save $s, so I had to buy "off the rack" which included the slider.
According to Ford Parts, there are two solid rear glass options. Light green tint or dark grey tint w/ optional defrost on dark grey.
Currently my slider seems to have a "gasket" around it. Gonna have to spy on one with solid rear glass to see if its a gasket or glue on like windshield.
I would imagine the sheet metal is the same.
I tried to ask the glass guy that services our shop but he was evasive.
Actually newfordy the rear window is a bolt in design with what is known a butyl ribbon sealer. It's always soft, sticky and waterproof. It was even used to hold windshields in back in the day. Like pre air bag days. That's what the 80-93 F series truck windshields used to hold them in under the aluminum mouldings. So in order to remove the rear window you have to remove the rear seat, rear interior trim panels and drop the headliner to access the 8mm nuts holding the window in place. And the solid rear window doesn't use a rubber seal around the perimeter of the glass. I can't say for certain, but I think the plug is the same. It just has a couple less pins in it that would power the motor for the power slider. The dark grey tint is also known as the privacy glass option. My truck has a solid rear window and I would eventually like to swap it with the power slider. Some thing else to keep in mind. From what I have read on here and heard from several local glass guys that I've dealt with, is that these trucks with the rear defrosters are prone to shattering the rear window from getting too hot in the winter months. I personally haven't seen it happen, but I have heard about it from too many different sources to know that it is a problem.

There was a thread on another forum about this issue, apparently there have been lots of folks who've had this happen. Which has made lots more too paranoid to use their defroster.
I can understand why people would be paranoid. At several hundreds of dollars to replace, and warranty most likely won't cover the repair. I'd be paranoid too. I got a price a few months ago from my glass guy for a power slider for my truck. He looked it up and said the cheapest aftermarket one he could get was almost $650 his cost. That was without his mark up and with out installation or the butyl tape. That would all be extra.
predneck33, thanks for the info.
I had read about the rear glass failures but hadn't connected them to defroster use.
Here in the 209 rear glass frosting up isn't an issue so maybe plain privacy glass.

Have you heard of this happening on the solid rear window w/ defrost? Or just the rear power slider w/ defrost?
