Yes, there was, and it's extremely, extremely rare. I'm not sure if it was factory or dealer-installed, but it was available. Somebody posted pictures here a couple years back; that's the only time I've ever seen it.

I remember ND chiming in for that thread, and he had some good info about it. I found the thread, and here is what ND had to say about it:

Kind of a stupid option as the rear window hardly ever frosts up on these trucks.
Because they are so straight up and down.
If its so cold in the cab that your back window freezes , your front one must also be froze so your not going anywhere anyway.

I'd reallly like to find the optional gun safe. Not sure if that was factory or dealer installed, but I've seen it in brochures. Maybe I'll get lucky someday when I pull the seat forward in the yard

Available at the parts counter, so it could be either dealer or owner installed on Super Cabs with a rear bench seat.

You will also need the optional Hi-Setter kit that raises up the rear bench seat 4" so the gunsafe (or toolbox) will fit underneath it.

The reason Ford came out with the Hi-Setter was, peeps complained that the rear bench seat on Super Cabs was mounted too low, so when Ford came out with this kit to raise it up, they also offered the optional gun safe or tool box.

The gunsafe was not the same as the toolbox. The outward appearance was the same, but when the door was opened, the dividers inside were different.

I can picture the whole shebang from the accessory catalog...and the accessory catalogs passed out at the dealers for free, were not the same accessory catalog we used.

Ours were over 100 individual 8" x 11" pages, fit in a notebook, had pics of everything...and the list of accessories Ford offered back then....would boggle your mind!
