fullsized.
rest fo the bronc is pretty rusty.
from what i am told has a 400 that runs a little rough(owner thinks its the choke) backed by an auto. most likely the C6.
the transfercase i would probably end up keeping unless someone was interested in it.
axles are the D44 front with the 9" rear, and what i assume is the ever so common 4:10 gear ratio.
he also said its a "camper special" but i never knew they offered a bronco in that platform

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code: 1978/79 Bronco: H = 351M 2V / S = 400 2V.
Transmission is a C6.
The same Styled Steel (SS) & Styled Aluminum (SA) wheels used on Bronco's were introduced on the 1977 F100/150's.
1977 was the first year Ford offered SS or SA wheels on trucks. The very first use of SS wheels was on 1965 Mustangs.
The AXLE code is on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
If a letter is the first digit of the code, it has Limited Slip (LS). If a number, no LS.
Without LS: 06 or 13 (2.75-1) / 12 or 14 (12: 1978 ~ 3.00-1) / 12 (1979 ~ 4.10-1) / 15 (3.25-1) / 16 (3.50-1).
Note: Some Bronco's have a 3 digit AXLE code, if so...the third digit decodes to the front axle. The 3rd digit may decode to the ratio, it may just decode to Power Steering.
There was no such thing as a Bronco Camper Special ever, but there was a Trailer Special offered 1978/79. The Trailer Special emblem is on the tailgate, if so equipped.
I didnt know there was a trailer special, thats very neat, what did they include with that package? I was afraid you were gonna ask that!
I assume a second battery as one thing. You assume correctly.
1973/79 F350 Trailer Special / 1976/79 E350 (Econoline) Trailer Special / 1978/79 Bronco Trailer Special.
Some of the standard equipment:
Front/Rear Stabilizer Bars / Super Cooling Radiator / Heavy Duty Frame (exc Bronco & Econoline) / Trailer Wiring Harness / C6 / Western Mirrors on 1973/74's only / Camper Style Mirrors 1975/79 / 55 Amp Alternator / 70 Amp Battery / Oil & Amp Gauges / Auxillary 70 amp Battery / Step Bumper / Inside Hood Release / 32 Gallon Fuel Tank w/Skid Plate (Bronco only) / Trailer Special Emblem.
Sorry the dana is on my 3/4 ton truck. Not a Bronco. Just curious to id the different Dana rear axl;es. Had a fella selling one and did not know it and what size it was in a truck he had. He wants to know. I never saw the axle. but he gave me the numbers a while back to let him know. So I was wondering what the numbers were for the dana's?

You tell me...I listed the Bronco's cuz that was a piece of cake.
1973/79 Bronco's are listed in the 1973/79 Passenger Car Parts Catalog, the rear axle codes are all listed on one page.
That's not the case with F Series trucks. There are pages of codes.
In order to list all the Dana's codes, that'll take an hour minimum.
1973/79: F250: Dana 60; Dana 61-1 / F350: Dana 70
The AXLE code is listed on the Warranty Plate.
The Dana: 60, 61 & 70 rear axle ID tag is on a 2" x 1/2" metal plate bolted (2 bolts) to the axle just to the left of the inspection cover (right side on 60 front axles).
The ID code will by 7 digits similar to this: 603010-1.
There are over 100 7 digit number codes listed in the parts catalog. Some are for 44's, some are for 60's, 61-1's & 70's.
Post either the AXLE code off the door, or the 7 digit ID code off the rear axle, it'll take less than 2 minutes to decode and post the info.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want just the axle ratios for Dana 60's, that's a piece of cake, too.
Off the cuff: 3.31-1 / 3.54-1 / 3.73-1 / 4.11-1 / 4.56-1.
