Injectors

I have 278,000 miles on my fuel injectors. Do they wear like diesel injectors? My idle is gotten erratic, along with hard start with the engine warm (fuel pressure is dumping off, if I grnd the pumps for a second or so, it starts right up) so I think I've a leaky injector. I've a diesel injector testor (Bosch inj work, MB and VW over the years) and the spray pattern for the diesel fuel really gets goofy with mileage. Is a new set of pressure matched injectors worth it? Does anyone have experience with these buggers? Thanks

Yes... injectors get worn and dirty over time just like any other component. I have a set of flow matched injectors I bough for my 5.8 buildup, but I won't be installing them any time soon. I also have a well used set of stock injectors that I know were acting very badly and sticking. I have bench cleaned these and have new filters and O-rings for them, hopfully they perform better, they certainly have a better spray pattern after the cleaning.
