clutch bleeding

I put in a new clutch master cylinder (leaking out the rear, down firewall) and can't get it bled. What's the procedure that works? Opening the bleeder on the slave, and letting it gravity does not work, just a small amt comes out then stops. Pumping in a traditional, ala brakes, doesn't do it. I'm stuck!

When you remove the cap from the new clutch master cylinder, if there is a black rubber diaphragm inside the reservoir make sure you remove it before you fill the clutch master cylinder with brake fluid.

You should be able to pump the clutch pedal, hold it to the floor, loosen the bleeder valve for a second, close the valve and continue bleeding until no air comes out. Just like bleeding the brakes.

Start out by opening the bleeder, pressing the pedal, closing the bleeder and repeating until you get fluid out of the bleeder (be sure to keep the master cylinder full). Once you have fluid in the slave cylinder, you would pump up the pedal, hold the pedal on the floor, open the bleeder, close the bleeder, release the pedal as you would brakes.

Yes, I eventually got it. Holding down the pedal, a tiny spit, doing it 40 or 50 times finally got a bit of pressure, and then I had to drive it a bit to get the last bubble to release and bounce to the bleeder. Thanks!

If it is a out side slave cylinder (out side of the bellhousing) get under the truck, open bleeder, push in the rod, close bleeder, repeat as needed.
