Do you know the production years for rear end you used? I see a few Dana 80’s 1994,1995,1996,1997 available, I believe they are all from MT45's with 3.31 ratios. I have not found a 1999 like you, can I use a different years?
I don't know the production years, but if you measure the width of your stock rear end you will be able see if the dana 80 your looking at will work.
Make sure to that the dana 80 is a 6 lug and not a 8 or 10 lug.
Where is the check values located in the brake system so I can remove it/them?
On the stock brake system the check valve is in the master cylinder and can be removed and replaced with inline ck valves.... 2lb for disc and 10lb for drum.
I am very close to getting the rear end. Where in the master cylinder is the check valve?
I have a 1956 parts book that breaks down every piece ofthe whole truck.
I see the brake switch going into the bolt with the hole thru it. Then to a nut that separates the fluid and goes into the booster. All this screws into the solid reservoir.
Is it just not listed? There is only one opening that the fluid comes out of from the reservoir.
If you have the factory service manual, on page 282 fig. 10 shows an expoded view of the master cylinder and the check valve that you need to remove is labeled "valve" and it will be the last thing to come out of the master cylinder.
Just remove the valve and reassemble the master cylinder.
What we did. The truck is a 49 F7 & we found a box truck and I think' don't
know, but some GMC we bought front and rear axles all big disk's. The
front spindles are just about exactly like the Ford but king pins are like a
.130 smaller. So I bored the GM spindles to except Ford bushings. What
ever GM axle this is, the drag link is the same as the Ford. I had to
machine an adjustable drag link cause the GM has the "tie rod end" and
the Ford has the typical ball cup spring adjustable. Bought that duel master cylinder set up with pedal for a 48- 50 pretty slick bolt up to original.
The engine some kind of turbo power stroke? with a HD AOD. I don't
know or care about new stuff I'm a flathead guy. All I care about is I ended
up with the 337 low mile flathead with a 5sp Clark overdrive !

So I have subscribed to this thread as I am looking at getting a 56 Dump and really see a need to improve the braking system. I am curious about the front spindles are they mentioned someplace else on the forum? I have been reading a lot here and figure I can find the rear end set up as there is enough info to narrow it down.

I see the brake switch (13480) going into the bolt (2077) with the hole thru it. Then to a nut (2076) that separates the fluid and goes into the booster.
Master cylinder check valve is basic part number 2178 .. shown in pic on other side of master cylinder.
I have to ask will the cummins with an automatic fit? I found a donor truck but equipped with an automatic. I probably have to add something to it or swap out altogether as I need a PTO for the dump bed I have in the plan
