Getting Ready: '58 F100 FE motor
I've thinned out the project cars/trucks and have been given the go ahead from the auditor/controller (wife) to start the '58. I've decided to pull the 292 and trans for a future rebuild. In the mean time, I have a '76 F250 with a fresh 360/4 speed that I am going to use as a donor truck. My plan is to remove the 58 bell housing and front motor mounts, and purchase/install an after market crossmember to mount the engine on. I plan on using the 76 trans crossmember. At some point when the 292 is done, I will swap everything back. I have looked all over and there appears to be many options for a crossmember.
I'm hoping someone here has experience dropping an FE into a 57-60 F100. If so, can you tell me what crossmember you used and what complications you may have had?
I am thinking about long tube headers too that will work with the Toyota P/S conversion.
Thanks
