.......... It's the pads that are substandard, create too much dust and cause the "warping" you experience. Good pads will make a world of difference.
For rotors; slotted is fine as they can improve brake feel. Drilled just reduces swept area and make for a weaker rotor than not. Just my opinion.

Monsta - I am still confused (but you have learned I am good at that..!).
About your comment on dust. You lost me. HEAT causes rotors to warp and get that annoying "rumble" . Dont we agree on that phenomena ? And if that is correct, what can the "dust" as the pads wear have to do with the "rumble" ?
Also, still not sure what the group's "vote" is - should I toss my "factory" rotors, or should I have em "turned" and keep em as spares ? Assuming Monst. is correct, and there is nothing wrong with the stock rotors, then dont we have a design problem, meaning ANY rotors we put on will eventually get the "rumble" ? I recall in one of the posts someone said the "rumble" re-appeared eventually - so wouldn't I want to keep a fresh set of front rotors in inventory ?
And is it correct that this phenomena of "rotor rumble" is limited to the front rotors ? I only changed the front rotors (and ALL the pads). Rumble is gone - brake application is smooth as silk.
Oh, and I dont notice any difference in brake "feel" between the stock rotors and pads, and the new pads. ? ? ? ?
interesting article. thanks for the reference. still having trouble accepting the idea that all that "rumble" so many of our fellow EX drivers have had, is just UNEVEN deposits of brake pad "dust".
It's more than dust. It is cemetite. It's what happens when the brake pad dust is super compressed onto a hot rotor. Diamonds are said to have been formed the same way (basically heat & pressure)
We've got very dusty pads. All Fords do. Just look at them on the road! Ford has had this "warping" problem on their cars & trucks for years.
A change to ceramics or the like virtually eliminate the rumble...as you call it. But even if they aren't broken in properly will put you right back to square one. Experience talking.
