Brake Rotors-Type

My front rotors are warped again. I'm tired of this, so I'm looking at replacing them with a pair of slotted or slotted/drilled. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which type is better? Advantages? Brand? and where to purchase for best price? Can I run a set of these on the front without changing the stock rear rotors? Thanks...

I have had good luck with Brake Pads | Brake Rotors | Slotted Rotors - Power Stop Brakes with their slotted rotors and their ceramic pads.. After 3 years, the rotors look like new with no warpage.. (don't think drilled rotors are recommended for heavy duty use).
One thing that I think helps to prevent warpage it to creep forward 10 or 20 feet after stopping to allow the heat to dissipate over the entire rotor evenly, especially if the brakes are hot.

I like the Powerslot's with the Hawk Super Duty pads.
You can just replace the fronts.Fronts take most of the rough treatment.

What about the dimple drilled instead of cross drilled? clintbonnie, you mentioned not using drilled rotors for HD use.. anyone have a definite answer on that?

Not sure about dimpling.. but heres what powerstop says about slotted rotors and heavy duty use such as towing.. IMO, drilled holes add additional surfaces for which cracks can occur.

Product Description

PowerStop Slotted Brake Rotors provides a nice cleaning action to wipe away friction debris. Friction dust and gas gets sandwiched between the pad and the rotor, and this can reduce pad bite. Independent tests show that slotted rotors do not improve the brake performance as much as drilled rotors, but they are structurally stronger to handle severe thermal shock. Power Stop recommends our Slotted Brake Rotors for racing, and heavy duty applications like hauling, towing, and fleet use. The silver zinc dichromate finish is highly resistant to corrosion

Powerslot cryo treated rotors, with Hawk pads is what I run.......they work GREAT, and you won't have to replace your brakes every 20,000 miles due to warped rotors

I run ART and I love them. Complete the circle with stainless braided brake lines and you think youre stopping a sports car instead of a huge truck. An amazing difference......

What brake pads are you using?

Cryoed, dimpled, slotted and otherwise molested rotors are a waste of money.

I recommend lifetime warranty rotors from Oriellys and EBC brake pads from Clay. Good pads ARE worth the money...

I'll have to disagree on that statement. I tried both Motorcraft OEM Rotors, and top of the line from Napa. Both warped. The Powerslot cryo treated rotors are pricey yes....but well worth it, and they stop GREAT paired with Hawk Pads, huge difference over stock pads/rotors

I did say GOOD PADS... This is waaaay more important than than the rotor. FWIW, the 2-piece rotors should be more resistant to warping - but since it only adds 5min to change a rotor when doing tire rotation - I'll just pick up a new (free) rotor or 2 every 80-100k miles...

Anyway, here's some good reading for those who still have an open mind. Lol.
