Anyone ever heared of or tried installing a hydrogen generator on their truck? My wife has a hookup at work. She can get them for about $225. Her boss put one on his dodge w/ hemi and he immediately noticed 3+ MPG gain, just in his morning 4.2 mile commute to work with a cold engine. With gas prices the way they are, I'd love a 3 MPG gain, although some of the other sites I went on said depending on your vehicle, it often produces better results. My wife's boss hasn't tried it on the highway yet. He said he's gonna try it this weekend. More to come on that.
He also said his Sheck engine light came on for a little while- probably the 02 sensors trying to adjust.

Buy one and run a before and after comparison on a dynamometer. Someone "just driving around" cannot generate precise, repeatable results that constitute proof.
In short the whole process takes more power to produce the hydrogen than it makes. I would guess this is one of the many water to hydrogen systems. The amount of electricity they use is very hard on batteries and your whole charging system in general.
And of course as stated above if it was so great the big 3 would ALL have them installed to help out on the ridiculous accelerated CAFE ratings.

BTW, unless CAFE ratings HURT and FORCE makers to build economical vehicles they will not. The playing field is level, oil consumption exports our money to terrorist Muslims, and thus I'm fine with ruthlessly dropping the hammer to beat makers into doing what is right for the country instead of their bottom line. Oil consumption makes Jihadists rich, funds Iranian nuclear development, and ensures lots of money for weapons that kill our troops. Changing will hurt, but tough excrement. If our home industries refuse to adapt then they can be replaced by aggressive innovators who will. I don't owe the idiots who are running Ford and GM into the ground and deliberately chose to built bloatmobiles anything. If they won't lead or follow, they can die and get out of the way.
alright, enough with the smartass remarks, a simple good or bad will do... BTW monkey wrench, I have deployed to the middle east 3 times, and might be going for a 4th shortly... Iraq has very little oil, Iran has less, and not all the terrorists in this world are Muslims ( albeit the vast majority are...) My point being; drug sales provide more financing for islamic extremists than our oil usage. We get the majority of our oil from the Saudis, one of our few allies in the area.

Been there done that (Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Southern Watch (twice), Northern Watch,) but thanks for standing up and volunteering too!

THAT relationship is fascinating, but "clients" is more accurate even though the military are personally friendly hosts to G.I.s. Saudis also bombed Khobar Towers so the "friendliness" is rather situational.
Their government and many of their influential people have a long track record of supporting terrorists/Jihadists. It is finally blowing back and becoming a threat to the House of Saud (who thought they could buy their way out of trouble and did for many years).

My younger brother is currently constructing a "Browns Gas generator" as we speak. Now mind you, this is NOT a mayonaise jar piece of dung with some cheap wire wound inside. It is a stainless steel water splitter.
We have been discussing the build details and are currently working out the electrical current flow rate. We plan on starting off at, or less than 5 amps at 13.8 volts. This should put very little load on the engine electrics. Bench tests, so far show the cell is capable of producing a lot of gas, but we have not documented the current flow, nor the quality of the gas produced. First engine test will be on a modified lawnmower engine. This engine has already been modified to run on propane/lpg. If we can produce enough to idle this engine, we will move on to delivery into an auto engine.
This is just a simple experiment to see if any gain in MPG is possible on an auto engine.
If anyone has a DYNO in North Texas (Panhandle area) to lend us, we will gladly do a dyno for official results when we get far enough along.
