Hello, I have a 99 F-150 ext. cab 4x4 with the trans. shifting fine but when it does shift it bangs into gear. 1st to 2nd ok but 2nd to 3rd its bangs. Now the O/D shift is flashing. Took it to the dealer they said it needs a tranny. It only has 115,000 on it and has had the tranny flush at 80,000. Don't pull anything heavy and drive with O/D off in town or anything under 45 MPH. Is there something else that could possible be wrong with it? Like shift solenoid or shift sensors or something?
Ah, Ok. I would still have a few different shops take a look into it, maybe the flush knocked some sludge loose and its hanging up in the valve body then.

IDK but if it were mine I'd fix it...LOL That's a dang nice looking truck. I have the same one, just without the aftermarket goodies... A second opinion is a must, but it sounds like a valve body issue or electrical issue to me as long as it is not slipping... Good luck.
No slipping whats so ever. Just that bang when in shifts. It's like when you have or had a real stout tranny shift kit in a C-6 or something it really bangs to the next gear as if you were to stay in the throttle it might take out a universal.Thanx for the compliments.
unless you swapped trannies you should have the 4R70W in your truck. The 4R100 was used in the Navigator and Lightning.
When you did your flush what kind of fluid did you put in it? Are you getting any codes that can be checked using a scanner/tuner or autozone or something?
regular f-150's could get the 4r100 to, just not as common as the 4r70w... i bet a tranny specialest could do it for a more reasonable price... i put a used 4r70w in myne for 300bucks... it had 120k on it and my truck had 140k on it... im at 175k now no troubles... And i tow quite a bit, and run it real hard most of the time Might be a cheaper option, most people dont have any trouble with there trannys...
