Question 2008 Update?

So I continue to see a ton of threads about the DPF delete and ect. I used to be on this forum all the time but with the same discussion over and over again I lost interest. I regret buying an 08 because of the sh_t mileage and the fact I can't tweak it out, and I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this way. I purchased the AFE intake for starts and it did nothing but throw me CEL's. I even had them send me a new one and it was the same story. So its back to stock. All I have done since I purchased the truck is run a 5" after the DPF back deleting the muffler and a new exhaust tip.

My question for anyone who can answer. Is there a company yet who has completed the tune to be able to delete the DPF and run a true exhaust set up? From what I continue to read after not being on the board in a couple months it still seems the answer is no. All I read is people blaming each other for why the tune is not yet in production. Maybe I am wrong though, any help would be appreciated. I am willing to spend the cash if its guaranteed to work. All I want is an increase in mileage and that true diesel sound, esp when you are paying $5.25 per gallon out here in So Cal. My mileage at best is 13mpg, and on the reader that is incorrect is says 10.9mpg. Keep in mind though I have 35" A/T, but still with the stock gears. Thanks guys!

So I called and spoke with SCT, basically they told me I could have the the Programmer, dpf delete pipe, EGT sensor, and window mount for roughly $1500. He also said I could then run straight pipe all the way back from the trubo. Has anyone here done this yet and does this sound right?

Have any of you guys talked to your dealers about how they will reat warranty issues? Or are you not worried about the warranty?
Thanks

The price sounds right. Running a straight pipe after the dpf is a waste of time. The muffler is just a straight through pipe. I bought my stuff from Innovative. Ted and Eric were very easy to deal with.

You could have warranty problems...it depends on your dealer, what problem you develop, and what the FORD rep is like if your problem gets kicked up that far. It is a roll of the dice, that's why I havne't done it yet. I am waiting to see how this truck wears a few more thousand miles.

I want to know if something is out that can mask that you did anything at all (on the computer) when you put the DPF back on. One of these tuner guys must have figured out a way to "beat the system." Some people (like me) only want to take the dpf off and need a "tune" to complete that process. I am not interedted in a crazy hp tune so I would have no problems trying to claim a warranty issue if an engine problem were to develop. I just want something to return it to stock with no trace (except maybe a couple shiney bolts)

I am with all of you I read all these post on the 08 and there are times I hate my truck due to the mpg but not going to like the truck is awsome and the hole warranty thing yea I am also waiting to put some more miles on the truck before I do anything to it. Just with things going the way they are I am ssssooo tempted to just say the heck with it and do the dpf delete pipe.

I have the SCT tuner and DPF delee pipe on my 08 F350 and I dont regret it at all. I now get over 18 mpg city/hwy driving and over 11 mpg pulling my stock trailer.

I am so happy with the results I am going to do the same to my F450

18mpg is great. What was it before the delete and tune?

Whats your exhaust set up like now from the turbos back? Also how easy is it to run it back to stock if need be?

I agree it would be nice to see some sort of tune/set up that just allowed you to do the DPF delete and not void your whole warranty but its not likely to happen. As mentioned already, you may or may not work a deal with your local dealer but if your problems escalate to big brother Ford Motor dont even think about a deal. Ford sent an engineer to look at my truck because I had so many problems. The very first thing he did was start searching for a tuner. He pulled information that the dealer didnt even know how to access and codes that the dealer didnt recognize. Had he found any evidence of a tuner he would have never even looked any deeper to determine the problems with my truck. His job is to save money and reduce warranty costs. Period, end of story. He is not your friend, he is not there to make deals and you will never hear him say "its only a small tune, I can overlook that". Believe me I completely appreciate the desire for a DPF delete but after dealing with big brother Ford on my current truck, its way too much risk for me personally. The day I am out of warranty its game on but until then, no way.

Im not one of those tuner bashers. Ran them on my 7.3 with no problems but was too afraid to on my 6.0. Thank God in hind sight!! 6.4 seems to be a better engine but big brother has put more protection in place to catch those that play. I love the fact that some are willing to take the risk and share with us all what works and doesnt work. I cant wait for more companies to start releasing their products for the risk takers.

Who is your Ford dealer? Looking at one here at Bozeman Ford.... curious as to which dealers in our area don't care for future reference. Feel free to PM me with any info you may have. Thanks!

I am with you on the warranty thing I want to do the dpf delete and everything else but just gonna have to hold off for awhile still breaking in the truck knowing my luck soon as I do any mods the truck will break and warranty is bye bye and won't get fixed. But with the rising fuel going on I am about to jump ship and do it just keep talking myself out of it.
