So I picked up the truck Friday night after it was at the dealer for two weeks being repaired. The truck was in to fix the oil leak at the bed plate and to replace the DPF. Saturday I installed the Banks monster exhaust kit that deletes the muffler as well as the Banks ram air intake system. Since the install the truck has roughly 60 miles and no CEL. Not even 15 miles after the exhaust was installed I noticed a residue in the tail pipe. When I went to touch the residue with my finger the exhaust was warm and the liquid was sticky to touch. This morning I happen to look after just driving up the street to the store and saw three times the amount of fluid and noticed it was puddled at the tip? Does anyone have any idea what the hell is wrong now!? This truck is starting to become an issue. Thanks for the help.....
This wouldn't be some kind of treatment to the exhaust system to prevent rust, etc. while in storage done at Banks would it? Maybe Banks sprayed it with some kind of lubricant and after it got hot it worked it's way to the tip? I'm just wishfully thinking out loud here.

Maybe, you never know but I will give them a call on Monday and ask. I cleaned the tip really well with a bug and tar remover and its been spotless for 15 miles. Give it a couple more days and see what happens.
I installed a banks exhaust on my bro's F150 a while back and it had the same crap in the tip for a bit when we started driving it. I think its oil they put in the exhaust to stop rust from starting during storage.
Thanks for all the replies! I called Banks and they confirmed its a coating they spray on their exhaust before they bend it. After a 1000 miles or so it should clear up. He suggested a little simple green and it all wipes off.

Exactly. The oil is used when the pipes are bent up. Normally most of the oil will burn away when the pipe heats up but these new exhaust systems (with our cool cuff on them) don't get hot enough.
No different man, and with their intake i would say maybe a slight bit louder on the whistle, nothing crazy. I must say though, I am very happy with the how easy the install was as well as how clean the Banks products look. I would recommend my set up to anyone.
That is a little dissappointing. When I switched it out on my 6.0 liter the tone change was worth it. Glad to hear you like it. I miss the turbo sound of my 6.0 liter.
Jasfaa, I completely agree. I had a 4 inch exhaust on my 06 and it made a huge difference. Just put a 4 inch on a friends 03 and it whistles twice as loud as my 06 did. I havent read about anyone seeing much result on the 08's though which makes me wonder if it would be worth the investment.
