Funny the flatbed topics come back up..

.... I've started thinking about my flatbed again,.

I'm not sure where the bed i have originally came from (was told a 69 ford) i'm not sure, but it does not have the Ford Script on the back. It is put together with rivits which is the look i really wanted.

anyway, here's a couple pictures of what i've got so far. I don't want to use the metal strips between the boards, i'm planning on just bolting the rough cut planks down side by side with carriage bolts.

i'm planning on everything being flush.......

anyone have an recommendation on hardware?

you can fab clamps to attach to cross members onstead of drilling through them

Thanks! All! I really apprecaite all the info! I am planning to do this soon BUT you know how that goes. I would appreciate any drawing help you can give Bob! I checked out the steel for the project this weekend and was a little surprised at the $$ but I guess thats what you have to pay for happiness! I will try to document my progress on this so that if the question comes up again you will at least know what mistakes can be made as I will probably make em all... I have a near mint 1956 grain-bed from Georgia. It is a 14 foot bed and original to my truck. I removed it for a 14 ft plus 4' attic vanbox. Bill--I am in Ohio
