Living in the northwest the best would be a wiper delay.
I really dont have a bad one but the lowering does have its down sides. I aquired it this way. Oh yeah and the painted grill and pebble chipped all to heck and no way to repair except sand and repaint.
Best: Swampers, new c bushings Worst: 80s box because I can't find a dentside box that is crappy enough for a mud truck but nice enough to still be usefull as a truck
hi dale thanks for the pics thats a great help! it looks like you used the stock main leaf springs,3"x4" sqare tubeing bolted to the underside with a plate up the outside of the frame in front, [did you have to remove the stock spring hangers?]3"x3" sqare tubeing under spring/axel every thing is to the inside of the stock spring perches kw 8 bag air bag
looks like a kw frame bracket [bolted to the inside of the stock frame?] what do you have to keep rear end from moving side to side? and are you useing kw leveling valves?
as i drive truck for a job these parts are stocked in our repair shop so i could do some thing like this also if it isnt patened? lol but for home made it looks like a great set up with a good ride regurds joe
Not necessarily the best mod that I can think to do, but I added roof lights. I just picked up a cargo light, with wiring and switch from a Pull-A-Part. Not sure if/when I will be adding it to my truck. Dual exhaust was a good mod for me.
Worst mod: Glovebox light since I rarely go in the glovebox, but hopefully some day I will find a need for it. Couldn't go wrong for $2 though.
Ignition upgrades are definatly a good thing on these old trucks. Also, it never hurts to throw a good alum. intake and carb on there. When i did mine not only did i get good throttle response. I also gained 1-2 mpg if i stay out of the secondaries. Another modifacation, while spendy and somewhat indepth, but worth it, is to bump the compression up. I had my heads milled 40 thou. the difference is unbelivable. runs better, starts better, sounds better. tho in hindsight, i probably would have went with some pistons to save on valvetrain hassle. with the abouve mentioned, i reckon i gained about 15hp, around 2 mpg, and alot better runnin truck.

I had the spings made at a spring shop I made the hangers and the springs and bags all inline with the frame directly underneath the frame.
saturday we had a 30ft GN with the pulling truck. it's weight is 8000lb grossed at 22600lb with all the extra stuff we bring. The air bags only had 30lb of air.
thats what i sort of thought that those bags would be running about 30 to 50 lbs as my tri drive tank truck with a legal load only runs 55 lbs any of the air suspention air ride places keep harping about 200 to 600 psi bags/pressure man at 200 lbs those bags would be so hard you would be jumping down the road that gives me a good starting point as i always thought this would work now i know as your system looks good the only things i would do different is run a 3"x4" sq tubeing in place of the spring, with 2"x2" sq tubeing running up the out side of the frame [both sides] with some sort of plastic rub block to center the axel thanks for your help will send pics when i get this built regurds joe
The only problem I see is the way your wanting to do is that the tubing wont let you suspention to articquelate as to move some I tried to domine like that first that lasted a week rode like a old chuck wagon.and use a trackbar not the tubimg comming down the from the frame after a while the sqeuking will drive you crazy.
