Does anyone know what is the best alternator (that will fit without alot of modification) to replace the generator on the 292 and what all is needed for the conversion.

 

I have 130 amp CS series from O'Reilly. It's for a 1996 comaro. It's like heaven on earth compared to the generator. Look at my install thread I posted a while back.

 

I used the Tuff Stuff alternator from Summit racing on my 223-dont know if it would work for you. Let me know if you need any measurements. only $83. 100 amp

I used a one wire Alt off the shelf at Napa. Than cut and welded the
Generator bracket to hold the Alt. Scrounged an adjusting bracket from the pick and pull. It's been working on the 292 since 1999 with out any problems.
