I have an MBRP 3" SISO Stainless cat-back on my '05 SCrew. Love the sound-Deep Rumble, no drone.
I have Flowmasters on my Mustang. If you go with a Flowmaster kit make sure you go with the 3-chamber design to get rid of drone. The 2-chamber design are very obnoxious with drone.
Since I do live in California, I don't need SS. I can understand your desire for SS where it rains, snows, and rust is an issue. You have my sympathy...!!!
I just get a kick out of people that seem to think that because they have brand X, it must be better than the rest.
Sound is subjective, fit and finish is real, SS is a better choice where rust is an issue...blah, blah, blah...!!!
It just ain't that big of a deal, one way or the other...!!!
too true. I personally hate Flowmasters because of the drone and 99% of people getting an exhaust say "Give me the Flowmasters"...it's not cool when everybody sounds exactly the same

Just because you prefer the Magnaflow sound over the FlowMasters does not make it a better product. I think that Magnaflow is overrated..SS is nice, but it isn't necessary...it's overkill...but that is just my opinion..
yep, aluminized metal is great for getting the job done...and it's cheap. SS metal is sorta overkill and expensive. btw, flowmaster doesn't use any sound absorption material at all. just a few baffles that "tune" the exhaust note...but hey, Flows drive me up the wall and sound horrible...but that's my opinion

it's not a matter of Brand X loyalty. I've been a member of this site since...well a few years ...and I followed the 04+ trucks for almost 2 yrs before I bought mine. Then I waited and researched the available stuff for another few months. Based on what people here and on other F-150 sites have done, I made a decision and paid almost $500 for my current setup on the F-150. That's about the cost of 2 flowmaster exhausts installed. 1 week after the install, I dropped another $350 on a Magnaflow kit for my 2003 Mustang GT (now gone). That's alot of money just so I could have Brand X. The guys who recommended the exhaust were absolutely right. It's worth the extra money.
over the years, I've had Flowmaster, Cherry Bomb, Gibson, Raven (Midas brand), and misc other no-name exhausts. Yeah, I go through vehicles and they all get aftermarket exhausts. For me though, I am done shopping the brands. The Magnaflow exhaust meets and exceeds all of my expectations and requirements of an exhaust.
1. some rumble
2. not overly loud
3. zero drone
4. not rust out on me
5. my kid can sleep while in the truck
disagree as we may, I will say this for anyone interested in a custom exhaust. Stay away from the Midas Raven muffler. Run away from that POS. There is a time to be cheap, and the Raven isn't one of them

Tylus...After looking at what I "said"...it looks like I may have inadvertently talking about you. I wasn't...I was just generalizing. No insult was intended...that ain't my style.
We're all friends here. I feel as if I'd only put Flowmasters on an older vehicle. If it was an '88 Ford or a '78 Ford or a '96 F150 or anything later than that, Flowmaster would be my choice. I was even wanting to put one on my '98 Expedition, but once you hop into the current gen body styles, it's too generic for my likings. Everybody does sound the same whether it's Chevy, a Ford, or a Dodge. Seems like as long as it has 8 cylinders it'll all sound the same.
I just wish Magnaflow would come out with their Harley style. I really don't won't duals out the back, but do like the dual side exits. Gibson is seems to be the only one to make that style and based on everyone's comments, I won't like it...
Magnaflow makes 2 different mufflers that will get you the effect your after Twinsdad. one is single in, dual out (my current one) and the other is the bullet style....need 2 of the bullets though
I recommend you get the SIDO one, mount it vertically instead of flat and then have a muffler shop fab up 1 more pipe. that way you could re-use the stock pipe and only pay for 1 extra length of pipe. would be alot cheaper than buying the whole schebang...and honestly, the SS pipe doesn't do crap for sound quality...just longevity.
oh yeah, and some nice tips so nobody can tell you did it on the cheap
Tylus- Great minds think alike. I was actually thinking of doing just that as well. I really want to get rid of the 04 muffler since it was the most restrictive for all the years (new body style).. Nice to know I wasn't alone in my thoughts..

This one?
Let me know if you would like to purchase this, we dont have it up on our site yet, but I can order it for you no problem
ALon- I saw this, but I think it exits in front of the rear tire like to old lightnings. On my Supercrew, I have the step bars, so there is not enough clearance so I need to have it exit behind the rear tire like the Harleys do. Magnaflow has listed a Harley style exhaust "coming soon". Well it's been there for years, so I'm not sure if they'll ever produce it. The OEM harley is pretty loud to begin with. I'm just looking for some bark, but no drone in the cab at steady crusing speeds. Any suggestions would be appreciated. You can PM if you want. Thanks..
