What ever happened to good customer service? I went to my local Muffler Shop last week and talked to them about getting some work done on my truck nothing big just wanted to get some duals put on. We agreed on the price and we agreed that I would get the truck in this Friday(tomorrow) but to make sure he got everything in that he needed he wanted me to call Thursday (today). I called and it seems that the guy never wrote down the appointment and is planning on taking tomorrow off... What the heck is going on! I feel like when I walk in to shop and stores it's more of a hassle for them to help me. Guess it's time to start the exhuast shopping again. Seems like it might be easier to just order a Cat Back system, much more expensive, but easier. So much for trying to support the local small town shops. At least this one.
I agree with you about the exhaust shops. I talked on the phone with a shop in Houston and got everything worked out, and told him I would be there in an hour. He told me he had everything to do what I wanted. I got there and he didn't even have the muffler in the shop. For a little more I was thinking of just getting the catback and not dealing with them.
It seems poor customer service has become the norm across the country. In the market I serve we've ripped up our competitors and they were forced to improve their customer service. But their attitudes, policies and service training are still poor. I'm whooping their butts and I have a new 08 F150 Screw 4x4 with a nice set of new tires and wheels to prove it! I could never afford that truck (Plus the others I have.) if I didn't take care of my customers.
Poor training, low pay, long hours and few rewards for the folks on the front lines. Funny thing is...great customer service allows you to charge more...and get more biz! Most folks will pay a bit more if they feel that they are being treated well. I know that I will! If I'm treated poorly....I don't care how cheap the deal is...I'll go somewhere else. They can shove their product where the sun don't shine!
I take real good care of the folks that work for me. They like working here with me. I pay them well. I expect top notch work and we have fun! It rubs off on our customers.
On the flip side....If a customer is a jerk....I show him the proverbial door. Politely!
What I never got was how a biz would worry over a few bucks on a deal. Make the customer miserable over it. And then wonder why they don't see them back again. I never sweat a few bucks. If the deal makes sense I do it. Take care of the person and they come back later with more scratch to spend later. You can replace product...You can NEVER replace a good customer!
Glad I'm not the only one seeing this problem. I agree about paying more if I'm getting treated right. Plus I would rather help out a person in the community rather then a faceless business but thats just me.

That's why I haven't set foot in a Wal Mart in about 5 years. I much prefer to give our biz to other stores. The last time I was in a WM there was a problem checking out. When I talked to a manager she made me feel like I was an employee talking to HR. Not a valued customer. If that's how they train their management to deal with a customer....I don't want any part of it. They don't have to kiss my butt. Just be nice!
On the Upside of thing the muffler shop called me up and told me to go ahead and bring in the truck to get the work done. It's in the shop right now and will have it back by the end of the day! Will post pic's when I get time to clean the truck and take pictures.
