Brandon, I wish I had a tenth of the skills with a welder that you do. That will be one sweet ride when it's done, heck it's already one sweet ride.
ha, thanks man, if your ever in tucson ill give you a lesson. 50% of welding is prep though, even for MIG, a lot of people think you dont have to clean stuff when you MIG weld, news flash. If its not being arc welded, it should be cleaned. gas welding can be semi dirty, but everything welds better cleaned.
Start throwing some ideas out for my next truck to guys, weather it be a ford or not. I need something to build after this. a lowrider of course, But im going to build a chromoly tube chassis, all tig welded, then you guys can be excited. because tig welding is my favorite thing to do.
body dropping. Note i was going to post a before and after picture, since ive now framed up the entire floor of the truck, and built new body mounts. BUT im a dumb****, and took the pictures before i left with out the card in the camera. so this is all you get.
i LOVE that four link! how did you fix the problem you had with it? any chance you'll be coming to memphis, TN? ha ha
haha i probably wont be up your way, thats quiet a drive on a lowrider. Its definatly do able. But air bagged low riders, are pretty scary on ****ty freeways.
the 4 link problem was fixed my simply adjusting my links. And there was a problem, because i couldnt weld my tabs on the axle semmetrical to eachother because of the proportioning valve for the brakes and how it was mounted, i didnt think about just moving it then. which is stupid so since my tabs werent symmetrical i had to adjust my links all kinds of crazy
Looks great!! How bout some pics of the lower bag mounts and how they attach at the beams and radius arms.
will do, im actually out of town right now. i wont be back untill the 11th. but its a pretty simple design for the front.
theres a 2 inch tall peice of 5 inch OD 1/4 wall pipe, thats "channeled" over the ibeam & the radius arms. i flipped the radius arm bolt upside down for easier access. then welded on top of the pipe is the bag mount.
But if you want to know about this because you plan on bagging an Ibeam truck. DOnt do it, its about 1500 more than it is to just do a IFS swap.
Well see I don't have the fabrication skills to do a front clip swap or to put a Mustang II kit on it right now. So I had come up with the plan to get a build your own cups kits from suicide doors and just replace my Coil springs with bags. Heres an idea of how I was planning to replace the coil spring with an air bag. Again this is just an idea.
Then eventually put dropped I-beams on it too. I love your truck and other trucks that lay frame, but I don't want to get that radical with this truck it has a lot of sentimental value. I'll do all that to another truck. Thanks and I look forward to the pics.
thats pretty much what i did but with out the access holes, I can still access mine from the bottom its a pain in the *** but its do able. Thats cool that your going to do it i beam, but i gave you fair warning. And if you can weld, and know how to use a measuring tape, you can swap a clip. Its worth it, i promise.
That thing is coming along quite nicely. Even looks pretty damn good setting up like she did in the day LOL. Keep her outa LA man the pot holes will swallow her up like a pice of candy LMAO!!! I got a good friend in Phoenix maybe I'll have to swing by for a look see one of these days and maybe some tig 101 too Keep it coming, it's quite the interesting thread.
What part of Tucson are you in. I'm in Colorado now but grew up there and am going back real soon, I would love to come by and check out the project and maybe do a little bench racing. thanks

definatly come and check it out, plus teaching people how to weld is way fun. I feel like im a far better instructer than my teachers in school. they tried to make it to formal, but no matter what its just welding, its a trade, and you need to practice thats the only way to get better at it but i think that my instructors tried to over teach it. when its just as simple as telling someone, then giving them an example, and letting them weld a bunch of coupons together
