Hi all im new here and hope you can HELP me....i just recently got a 97 150 xlt with a 4.2 . the problem im having is it keeps giving me a code for poor egr flow....i have changed the egr valve and the presure sensor..(dont remember the true name of it)...but the code keeps coming back...also im only getting 14 miles per gallon....I am not getting vacume to any of the egr selenoids that i can tell but dont know much more to do.....can anyone help?....PLEASE
Did you try to clean the port? Take some rags, q tips, and intake cleaner and try that. Also, do you use a hand held vacuum pump to test the egr? I know you said you replaced but you never know
yes all is clean that i can see....like i said the EGR valve and DPFE Sensor is new...i work at autozone so parts are cheap with my discount....I have no vacuum at the EGR or EVR solenoid at any engine speed....i think these are tied together?....should there be vacuum there?.....the thing i really need to fix is the poor gas mileage 14 MPG is not good in my eyes....the engine runs good in my eyes....but 14 MPG ..........i would think it should be better for a v-6
There are tons of posts related to bad DPFEs and clogged EGR ports. To start: 1. You have to pull the throttle body and connector to check the EGR ports. I'm not sure about the V-6, but with the V-8 you cant do it any other way. 2. Aftermarket DPFEs aren't reliable. Sneak away from work and buy one from Ford. 3. You should have vacuum going into the EVR at idle, but nothing going out (to the EGR valve). If there's no vacuum in, trace the lines and find out why.
