Dragged home another one

Well, I dragged home another one yesterday, a '55 F100 parts truck for my '54. It is a 6-cylinder 4-speed, and a huge bucket o' rust, but it is pretty much complete. All the glass is good, and I need to replace every window on my '54. I figure I should get my 300 bucks worth out of it.

The PO found himself in the position of having to sell his house and relocate for his job. I think he had bought it fairly recently, and hadn't done anything to it yet.

Conversation last Friday... Me: "Does it run?" PO: "The guy I bought it from said it runs. But he also said there isn't much rust."

So this week, I plan to see if I can fire it up. Who knows? I might have a an engine to sell, too!

Even saving them for parts is a noble thing. It may end up at the crusher but hopefully, other trucks get a new life

Heres what it looked like 2 years ago when I had it.

I bought it for $500, and took the beautiful straight rust free box, tailgate and non-welled rear fenders for my '56, but on that box and sold it for $500. I sold it to a guy in washburn, but I think he sold it again, probably to the guy you bought it from.

part of the fun buying cheap "parts" trucks is getting them to fire off, bonus is driving them even for a short trip around the block.that grille would fit really nice in my 55' to replace to one that was stolen when it was in storage. i just found a chrome one last week by accident,a buddy had one given to him by his boss cleaning out a garage and it won't fit his 56' 3100 chevy. they had me id it and looks like i'm getting a replacement grille for next to nothing because knowing him he will get tired of moving it around in his garage and tell me to "just get it out of my way"

That's awesome! It looks exactly the same now. I'd be interested to know where it came from when you bought it, being it's rustier than any similar vintage pickup I've ever seen around here.

I did buy it from the guy in Washburn. I hope you're not offended by my account of my conversation with the PO.

Did it run when you had it?
