I'm looking for a tuner/programmer for my 2004 F-150 w/ 5.4L V8. Main goal is to increase MPG. I do not have a lead foot and do not tow much. I do not have any after market upgrades but I do plan on changing my air intake and possibly my mass air flow sensor. Any one have any suggestions from previous experience which tuner/programmer is most efficient in achieving my goal? Anyone have any knowledge about the Granatelli Fuego Flash Tuner?
I just put in a Gryphon tuner. I am waiting on my custom tunes to make it in. I like it so far with the canned tunes. It helps with throttle responce and tranny shifting for sure. I chose them beacuase they do the custom tunes as part of the package. They can change it for you if you change your intake and TB. If you are planning on changing either of these I would make sure that you get custom tues for who ever you choose. I liked the Gryphon because it is like the Edge with built in gauges and performance monitoring. You can check them out at powerhungeryperformance.com.

I just checked out their site, so a programmer with custom tunes would cost me over $500? Gauges would be nice though! Anyone remember when the Edge w/ gauges was going for $350?
The base programmer comes with the custom tunes included. I remember the Edge for $350 but I waited to look around and they went up. The gryphon was $50 cheaper until about a month or two ago. Most of the programmers start at about $400 and go up. Keep in mind that mine has been in for only 2 days but I love it so far. So far based on the indash mpg I am up about 1 - 1.5 mpg and that is with all of the playing. I am looking forward to a little road trip this week to see what kind of mileage I see.
You get the custom tunes with the tuner. I think you get either 2 or 3. The custom tunes listed on their own are for when you need to change something later. Call them and they can explain it to you. They were alot of help when I called.
I agree call them up they are very nice people and will answer any of your question's. The $495 is with three custom tunes of your choice, so that makes the programer $350 and then each of the tunes are $50 wich makes it $495. When you order it you will receive the tuner rather quick so you can use the canned tunes for a bit then when the tunes are done they will send them to you. Hope that helps you out a little! I am sure corey will see this post soon and chime in and maybe clear it up a bit.

Hi there! It's me, chiming in. The cost of a Gryphon is $495.00, which INCLUDES three custom tunes.
That's really good to know.I'll have to keep that in mind. I already have an Xcal ll with Troyers custom tunes, which I am very happy with so unfortunatly I'm not in the market for anything right now, but I do have some buddies who are and will direct them your way. Like I've stated before, the gauges would have been pretty nice but at the time I purchased mine, the Livewire wasn't out yet, and couldn't find custom tunes with the Edge.
