What mods do I need before I could install a tuner/programmer in my 2011 Ford Ranger. I am currently look at this:

Superchips - 4wheelonline.com

Will it really improve my truck's performance?

The trouble with all these tuners is that while they give you the capability to change the tuning, they still need to be programmed for your vehicle (the "tune") and this is usually sold seperately. Usually, these generic tuners just advance the timing when the engine is at WOT. That's the only place you get the power increase. And you're not going to be able to feel the ten lousy HP they claim you get.

Some years ago, you used to be able to purchase a tune tailored to your specific vehicle/transmission (I got one), but I don't know of anyone who provides that service now.

I had a custom tune done years ago for my Ranger by Brian at Apten, but I'm not sure if he still does tuning or not.

I think I heard Doug at Bama tuning was continuing Brian's work but not sure, that was years ago.
