you cant compare our obs truck boost numbers to sd boost numbers. they are 2 different systems. our trucks flow different amounts of fuel, and have larger turbo housings on them. the sd's can flow more fuel and have smaller housings on them and are wastegated.
on a typical obs truck you can expect roughly 2-4 psi drop in boost readings from adding an intercooler depending on which one you install. you have to remember that just because your gauge doesnt go as high it doesnt mean you lost power. the turbo is moving the exact same amount of air into your engine, technicly more just with less boost.

Ditto my friend.

I mean i want a new turbo but i have to tow some stuff on friday and can have it craping the can just yet.
i have never had a problem, you are drilling straight up into the manifold on your truck so 90% of the shavings will fall out anyway. you can use a magnet to check for any rogue particles but even if you miss some they are so close to the turbo at that point that when you start the truck up they will be blown through the blades long before it ever spools up to speed. you have nothing to worry about, dont even need to use grease on the drill bit.

Another reason that you may think that your turbo is lagging from the IC is air friction. Since your shoving air thru a finned surface, your forcing air resistance that you did not have otherwise. You will still move the same amount of air from the turbo iteslf, but pressure will decrease becasue of physics. You have a larger area that pressure will be disappaited in, and you will loose air velocity in a samll percentage from the larger area and the finned surface INSIDE the IC. This is the disadvantage to the IC, but it is made up for by the cooling effect on the air, allowing it to be a percentage denser. There was a write up on it here a while ago from a guy that may just be the smartest person I eveer read anything from on ICs. Does anyone have that link?

the probe will basicly be from the bottom up, so almost vertical, yes
