Egt help

I did a search and didn't find the answer to my problem. I have a 94 turbo with auto. I have turned up the pump 1.5 flats put on a dp and 3" exhaust adjusted the pump about a dime with toward the passenger side. I hooked up to my 6000 lb travel trailer today and took it for a test after changing my trans fluid and filter. When cruising in OD at 55 my EGT would climb to 1150 with about 1/4 throttle and about 5 lbs of boost. I turned off OD and boost would go up to 9lbs and the egt would back off to 950 with the rpms about 2500. I am wondering if my timing is off or do I need to turn up the fuel more? It doesn't blow any smoke when loaded up or when I get on it at full throttle. Also what is the normal operating temp for an Auto? I was seeing 250 the other night running unloaded at 70.

It's normal for EGT's to go down in higher RPM's. Keep it out of OD when towing to keep your EGT's in a safe range.

Where is your temp probe for the tranny? Is it in the outlet cooler line? (the front most one, from the torque converter, to the first cooler?) if so, 250* there sounds about normal.

If your probe is in the test port, that's way to hot! You should be keeping it around 150-180* there.

Yes that is trans temp I put the sensor in the port on the side of the tranny where I have seen most people install it.

Did you by-pass the factory lower Rad tank cooler? Or it is in series with it?

That is the correct way to put it.

First line out of tranny, into rad tank cooler, then out that, into Aux. cooler, than back to tranny.

But 250* running empty isn't good, nor normal at all!

Maybe your gauge reads high?

X2, and if the same readings are seen, then you might have circulation problems....

When I put the cooler on one of the line on the original cooler was kinked I don't know how long it was like that with the PO but it could have caused all my problems to begin with.

It probably had restricted flow, and it overworked the pump.
