I will check that conecter can someone explane how to check it or post a link to some reading
Get a digital ohm meter and pull the two connectors on top of the valve covers to expose the 9 pins.. carefully do the following without bending the pins..
You can check your glow plugs/injectors by unconnecting the 9 pin connectors at both of the valve covers (outside) (near top edge) and use the following info:
GGIICIIGG
G = Glow Plug
I = Injector +
C = Injector -
Ohms between the G and block Ground should be 0.1 - 2.0 ohms.
Ohms between the I and C one at a time if one or more is > 5 ohms, it will point to the side's gasket connector being loose or UVC harness being shorted.
If you end up pulling the cover later, the cover gaskets are re-useable..
Don't hesitate to ask questions if you run into trouble..
yeah the orange pocket scan tool is a pos it will only read about 12 codes on a psd as curtis said find a good shop or some one with an edge evolution progamer it will do a code scan. however a good one will show your icp and ipr duty cycles and do a injector contabution test

Cliff.. what did you find? If the connector was loose, you need to buy a repair clip from Ford... or make a home made shim and slip it behind the plastic locking tabs that hold the connector together.. or it will happen again... need a update.
Sorry it took so long to get back with you busey week at work i was just out looking at that conector how do you get it loose from the valve cover pan gasket
It has been awhile since i pull the connector apart to do the ohm check, but it should just pull apart.. Maybe there is a locking tab to loose first...I can't really remember. If your SES light is intermittent, you might get good readings.. The trick is to catch it when the connector is loose inside the valve cover..(if that is your problem).
Maybe someone else can chime on how the connector separates..
I just took the readings the harness on the pass side all showed 3ohms and the one on the driver side i couldnt get a reading on the 2 closest to the firewall and the other 2 was at 5
I just pulled the driverside valve cover pan to find the plug on the inside almost off does it have a clip on it like the ones on the outside of the pan
Great news..Unless you add a repair clip or add a shim behind the locking tabs, the connector might come loose again... I put a 1/16" thick shim behind mine. Ford changed the design later to fix the problem .
