If your check engine light is on, you DO have a code. It's a fact. Find some mechanic buddy to scan it with an comprehensive scanner.

Well, it didn't read your codes. Like Kris said, if you see your check engine light, the you have a code. If you can find someone who has a Superchips 1704 programmer, it will read them fine.

Is your light staying on? Is in on now? How is your truck running and what were you doing when it came on? If you at WOT with your chip in higher setting, you may just have tripped a boost sensor, or a HPOP sensor.

Yea if i go and start it now it will be on it runs like it has a miss but if you watch the tach it does not move like it is missing it is worse at the lower rpms once i get over 2000 rpm you cant really tell there is any thing awrong with it. When i come home from work (about 20 miles) right before i get home the light will go off and it will run fine untill the next morning The light stays on no matter what pos it is on ive even taken it out and dis conected the batterys to try to reset the computer when the light came on i just started it and was headed to the store down the street and it came on the night before it came on i was running it home in the dark and whent to turn the chip up and i fliped it to the fast idal insted it whent to turn the truck off and when i turned it back where it should be it started to run fine

I bet it is your under the valve cover 9 pin plastic piece of a junk connector is loose.. sometimes making contact, sometimes not... you can ohm check the connector on top of the cover prior to pulling the valve covers..Check it when you suspect it to have a SES light.. But, if you can get Kris to read your codes, i bet you will have a P1316...

That one is not compatible with Ford diesels. You'll need to take it to a shop that actually knows what they are doing.

I've found that any good independent transmission shop will have a good code reader. I did not read the rest of this thread so I may have jumped in too soon.
