iam working on a 91 7.3 2 wheel drive with a e40d trans .ive removed trans to replace front seal and after removing converter i noticed that when you shake the converter there is movement inside. not really a rattle but for sure you can feel something moving .i know nothing about converters so i thought id ask to see if thats typ. it was replaced aprox 80000 miles ago by a tranny shop that was suppose to know what to do with these trannys ..also is there anyway to test the electronics inside while i have it opened.? thanks for any help you may have this site seems to have alot of good info thanks ken

There are moving parts in the TC, so if its more of a mild "clunk" with each shake as opposed to the sound of gravel rattling around it should be fine. Do you know if this is an OEM torque converter?
