4WD's use a shaft and coupling assembly, 2WD's don't use this setup.
The shaft & coupling (3B676) comes as an assembly only. No individual parts are available.
If it matters to ya, I went with a new Borgeson steering shaft for my 77 F250 4x4 with the newer steering swap. Works great and the joints are not supposed to wear out like the U-joint shafts. Kinda spendy though, but worth it in my book.
1978/79 4WD: F150's have a rag joint / F250/350's do not.
that explains why i've never seen one with a rag joint. i've never seen an f150 of this vintage while looking for a steering shaft...
put another vote down for borgeson... their shaft is a direct replacement for highboys. it has to be shortend to be used in a 78-79 f250. another option is flaming river. they sell kits and seperate parts to "customize" your own.
