You must be talking about my sig pic. Good eye. Whittier has lots of jac trees as you know, but fortunately they are not in my yard, or my neighboring yards. I love looking at them in bloom. I also love turning the wood when they come down. But it's easy to love them when someone else is doing the cleanup.

What well known famous person came up with that tag line?

Hint: he died in 1919. He was famous for using the expression "Bully!"

I had those trees at my house in West LA...they are beautiful in bloom, but the paint job on my LTD sure didn't like them.

I had to have the hood repainted because of those &*%^ flowers.

No Jacaranda trees in Hacienda Heights...at least not in this area.

At 60 yrs. of age.

As a sickly 7 year old, he watched Pres. Lincoln's funeral procession through the window of his family's New York City home.

He lived as full and rewarding a life as anyone could ever hope to in twice as many years.

And he loved that M1895.

TR. My favorite.

Good morning Guys!

Just stopped in to say "Howdy!". My wife and her friend went to Stagecoach today so the kids and I are gonna party!! Going to run a few errands, grab some In 'N' Out burgers for lunch and then it's pool time.

Hope you all have a great Saturday! I'll check in later today.

Correctamundo.

When TR was dining at the Maxwell House restaurant, he said as he put down his coffee cup..."that's great coffee...good to the last drop."

TR was prolly the only prez who's off hand remark became a famous advertising tag line. And...there was another.

From the English gent who guided TR's safari thru Africa....

"I took my double (Holland & Holland .500 Nitro) and advised TR to do the same, because this was going to be close work.....

...but TR said as he held his Winchester (Model 1895 in .405) 'This is my medicine gun for lions."

Winchester used TR's 'medicine gun' quote for many years.

TR's Model 1895 in .405 that he used in Africa is on exhibit at the NRA Museum in VA.

If anyone wants to read an excellent biography of TR, "Mornings on Horseback" by David McCullough covers his life from cradle to grave.

There's also "Theodore Rex"

I can't remember the authors name, the book is in the bedroom, but so is Stanley Steemer.

Haven't read that one yet, but I think it was written by Edmund Morris - he wrote a biography of President Reagan also, i believe.

Roosevelt "minor" - H.L. Mencken's term for FDR.
He didn't care for Franklin too much.

FDR didn't care for him either.

I've always felt that FDR was the best possible man for the times.

FDR in today's world, doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

At one time, Reagan was a Roosevelt Democrat.

btw: Morris is correctamundo.
