I've been upset with the Tejon folks since they were on board with the lead hunting bullet ban. I find that irritating and yes, they're quite pricey on their hunting packages.
does anyone know where i can get some foam, like motorcycle air filter foam? i need to make an air filter for my bike...and dont know where to get some

Yup, they were on board with the lead bullet ban. A trade off with the enviros and Arnie to get what the Tejon Ranch owners and Board want... $$$$ from development. They'll be very likely to stop hunting on the ranch too. Can't have people running around the hills with firearms with homes that close!
My wife's contract is up in 10 (looong) years and then we're outta here. Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, it's all good.... and better than the political climate is going to get which is much worse.
Thanks for the link Bill. It sure got my heart rate up.

I enjoy Matthews weekly columns. It's a free email subscription and keeps you up to date on outdoor news. But yea, it's not always good for the cardio-vascular.

Good info, Bill - thank you.
I don't really know when it happened, but it seems nowadays that preservation equates to denial of public access.
I hope the author turns out to be wrong. But he probably isn't.
I have really mixed feelings about it. The libertarian side of me believes strongly in private property rights, and that a property owner ought to be able to do whatever he wants with what is his. Therefore, Tejon ought to be able to subdivide and sell what they choose. Tejon is privately owned after all. The largest privately owned parcel in the state IIRC.
But on the other hand, as an outdoorsman, it just kills me to see the loss of prime open space and habitat. We sure don't need another 26,000 homes up there. Eventually we'll drive to Bakersfield without ever leaving urbania. Well, it would be a lot of masonry work for you which is good.
It's a sad state of affairs, and leaving looks better all the time.
I hear what you are saying about the rights of private property holders. "Urbania" will eventually quit spreading out, when every last lot or parcel is paved over. Do you ever avoid a certain area when taking a trip, because you know something was built there or something that you cherished is no longer there? I do it often. Maybe it's silly, but some places I wish to remember as they were.
They couldn't pay me enough to work on houses that were being built up there.
